Learn about Farmingdale’s journey crafting a student-centered experience while keeping the faculty, staff, and donors in mind as well. 22. Make a Virtual Visit a Reality for Your Campus
Derek Tonn, mapformation
It’s been proven that getting people to your campus is an incredibly effective sales tool, but what if they just can’t make it or aren’t convinced yet that a visit is worth it? In this session, Derek will show examples that use technology from companies such as Matterport to help bring the spaces, amenities, and assets on your campus to the desktops and devices of interested individuals around the world.
23. Lean User Testing for Stressed-Out Designers
Darren White, DW&CO
Designers are so much more than production artists: They are problem-solvers, strategic thinkers and observers. Lean user testing develops those skills into an insights-driven, repeatable system that gives context to your data and builds the case for your strategic design. Oh, and the best part? It’s inexpensive and easy. Learn how lean user testing works, where it came from, how you can customize it and how you can integrate it into your design workflows and team meetings. Everyone’s got an opinion—here’s how to make them useful!
24. This is Your Brain on Paper
Daniel Dejan, Sappi
In this sequel to Haptic Brain/Haptic Brand, Daniel will present a deeper dive into the discussion of ink-on-paper in comparison to digital communication. He’ll cover how the sense of touch influences readers’ perception and retention of brand and marketing
communications. He will dig deeply into bi-lateral literacy and its impact on how
content is perceived. And, discuss how ‘constant distraction’ affects our ability to
learn, to comprehend, and to retain the vast amounts of information with which we are bombarded every day.

25. Get Out of Your Own Way
Lindsey Hammond Charlet, CEO HUB
As a designer it takes vulnerability, authenticity, and courage to create and share your creative work. The best work happens when you understand your audience, translate feedback, reflect authentic truths, anticipate challenges, and never give up or take it personally. You also have to know yourself and find what fires your imagination and face what is holding you back. A disarmingly real and dynamic speaker, Lindsey describes the philosophies at work for HUB Collective that create a connected, engaged, and productive workplace.
