Featured Speakers
Gaye Hill is the content strategy manager at Meredith College. An award-winning marketing writer and content strategist, she writes for media formats from print to video, leveraging content produced by her team to tell powerful stories and achieve business objectives while maintaining and strengthening the college’s brand. Previously, Gaye held communication and development roles at regional and international nonprofits. She has also taught writing at the community college level.
Gaye graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in religion and an M.A. in English from Florida State University. She also holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke Continuing Studies and a Certificate in Digital Communication from Meredith College (December 2022). She has served on the board of the College News Association of the Carolinas (CNAC) and presented at regional and national conferences on a variety of topics.
Charlotte Claypoole McKinney is the Assistant Director of Communication-Multimedia at Meredith College. Her responsibilities include conceptualizing, creating, and producing multimedia marketing content that tells stories across a variety of platforms including advertising, broadcast, social media, and the college website. She also supports the Director of Visual Communication in managing the college brand with an emphasis on multimedia design standards. In 2018, McKinney received the Allen and Barbara Page Presidential Award in recognition of exemplary service to the Meredith community.
Before joining Meredith in 2012, McKinney was the Video Technician for Durham Public Schools Channel 4. She also served as an advisor for the Explorer Post 50 program at the Durham Bulls, where she volunteered from 2009-2014.
McKinney graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. She also has a successful business as a freelance photographer.
