Since 1970, the University & College Designers Association has created a community where visual communicators in education have turned for support, camaraderie, inspiration, and resources. Our membership of designers, design educators, writers, editors, photographers, and creatives of all types across many disciplines remains a strong force in promoting excellence in visual design, especially in the field of education.
Our organization's visual identity is a reflection of who we are and what we want our organization to be. Creating a visual identity for an organization dedicated to visual communication is both a challenge and an incredible opportunity. In the same way that we delight in seeing the rebranding efforts of our members, we realize that as an organization we can't remain static ourselves. Our logo and identity system represents UCDA and our diverse, creative members. It underlines our promise and points to our bright future. As part of UCDA's initiative to inspire design, the organization has examined itself and its visuals very carefully. As a result, the UCDA logo (top left) and identity system was introduced. The UCDA logo evokes similar forms as found in the UCDA award. The unique cube with stylized letterforms was designed by emeritus member j.Charles Walker and stands as the organization's highest honor to an individual. The award informed and gave inspiration during the design process for the new logo, and the intentional homage encompasses both our organization's heritage and its bright future. UCDA hopes you will join in embracing our look. It is bold, bright, clear, and it represents the best of what we do: inspiring design and designers.
