JOEL ANDERSON
Co-Owner/Creative Director, Anderson Thomas Design
Joel Anderson graduated from Ringling School of Art & Design in 1986 and was recruited by Carden & Cherry Advertising Agency in Nashville, (creators of the Hey, Vern Ernest TV and movie character). While with C&C, he won a daytime Emmy Award for creating the animation and graphics for the CBS Saturday morning kids show, Hey Vern, Its Ernest!
In 1993, Joel and longtime friend David Thomas started Anderson Thomas Design.Today, ATD has nine designers and more than 40 clients. Joel and his team have worked on movies like Jurassic Park III, The Grinch, designed albums for Toby Keith and Faith Hill, and created toy packaging for Hasbro and DreamWorks. The firm has won numerous honors, including a Dove Award for best GMA album cover, and its work has been featured in Print, Graphis and How magazines.
MARCIE CARSON
Creative Principal, IE Design + Communications
Marcie Carson studied art and communications at the University of California at Santa Barbara and began her design career in marketing and fashion. Working as a Fashion Coordinator for Contempo Casuals provided her the necessary background to work on Madonna's Girlie Show World Tour in 1992. Following the tour, Marcie left fashion for design full-time. She started IE Design with her husband, Corey, in 1995.
Marcie's work has appeared in every major design publication and has garnered more than 100 design awards.Marcie has also been featured in numerous design books.
ANDREA HERTOWSKI
Educator, The University of Kansas
Andrea Herstowski earned her B.F.A. at KU and the equivalent of an M.F.A. at the Schule fur Gestaltung Basel in Switzerland. She taught design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco for several years.
Andrea has practiced design in various capacities at internationally recognized studios in San Francisco and Germany, including Factory Design Inc. and xplicit GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany. Her design for Apples iPOD helped launch the hot-selling digital music device in 2002. Her work has been published and recognized in many publications such as Form; AIGA; Red Dot; and How magazine.
