- NATIONAL UCDA DESIGN EDUCATION SUMMIT
The State of Design Education

- Design educators and graduate students--you are invited and encouraged to participate in the seventh annual National UCDA Design Education Summit in Jersey City, New Jersey, May 26-27, 2011.
- This national conference for design educators, chairs, and students will be hosted by New Jersey City University, and will include general session speakers, panel discussions, and paper and poster presentations selected from abstracts submitted through a peer-reviewed process.
- This conference is open to UCDA members and non-members, design educators and practitioners, and students. More details and registration information will be posted soon.
- Proposals regarding the conference theme The State of Design Education are especially welcome. However, we will also welcome proposals concerning other design education topics.
- The following formats of presentations will be accepted in the conference:

- CALL FOR PAPERS
- Deadline March 1, 2011
The National UCDA Design Education Summit is seeking proposals from design educators or practitioners that address issues in design education and research for 30 minute presentations as breakout sessions to be held during the conference. There may be more than one presenter during each session.
- Accepted papers will also be included online in the conference proceedings.
- Paper/Presentation Abstract Submission Procedure
- Paper/Presentation abstracts (a maximum of 300 words) must be submitted in PDF format only.
- Your name and name of institution (if any) should NOT appear on the abstract as we wish for the judging to be blind.
- Include your status (grad student, tenure track faculty, tenured faculty, visiting faculty, practicing designer, other) on the PDF file.
- Title your PDF file as an abbreviation of your paper title and use the file extension .pdf (example: titlename.pdf).
- Include in your email your name, institution, institution type (2-year, 4-year, public, private, art school, etc.)
- Submission Deadline: March 1, 2011.
- Notification of acceptance will be made via email by March 28, 2011.
- If selected, the complete paper will be requested for inclusion in the conference proceedings.

Note: The Design Education Summit will not be able to cover expenses for any presenters. Selected presenters are encouraged to seek the financial sponsorship of their respective institutions for registration fees, travel and related expenses.
